As the school year started, it finally dawned on us (well, most of us) that we were seniors. As we go through our last year of high school, at times, it can feel like time is moving all too fast. Especially moments where we can bond as a grade and spend time with one another in school and outside. That’s why events like Senior Sunrise, (or well, Senior *breakfast because we didn’t actually see the sunrise or even meet early enough to pretend as we did), are integral.

In fact, moments like these where we can look around and realize that we’ve been around these people, every single one of them, for at least a year, is a weird feeling. It’s this feeling of nostalgia for previous moments, like when Sahil and Zoe referenced old jokes that no one remembered until they were said, and suddenly, you’re transported back to all those times with all those people. Or if it was Ms. Cleary and Mr. Jauk giving us advice for the future that all of us (some of us) would try and implement later on in life.

It’s not about the breakfast, but it's about what it entailed. Dressing up in our graduation gowns after, taking camera pictures in our pajamas, talking to each other, and realizing that we’re the oldest people in the school, that’s a feeling you can’t wrap up into the event of a “senior breakfast.” Yes, we ate breakfast together, but we really did understand that we are going to graduate this year and that the people around us have helped us and been with us for years, and they are all parts of our lives that we should be thankful for.
